Fossil, a design, marketing and distribution company, has appointed Diane Neal to its board of directors, effective Feb. 20. She also will serve on the compensation committee.

Neal most recently served as chief executive officer of Bath & Body Works. She joined the company in November 2006 as president and chief operating officer and held these positions until her promotion to CEO in June 2007. She resigned as CEO in July 2011.

Prior to Bath & Body Works, Neal served as president for the Outlet Division at Gap, where she was responsible for the outlet business for all three Gap brands.

Prior to joining Gap in 2004, she spent 22 years with Target in multiple divisions, including Dayton's Department Stores (now Macy's), Mervyn's, Target Sourcing Services and Target Stores. She spent 16 years with Target stores and held multiple positions and responsibilities including merchandising, planning, distribution and sourcing. She was promoted to president of Mervyn's in 2001.

Neal's appointment brings the size of Fossil's board to 11 directors, nine of whom are independent.
