The law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges has announced that Steven Tyrrell, former chief of the Department of Justice’s fraud section, has joined the firm's investigations and criminal defense practice as co-chair of the group. He will work out of the firm's Washington, DC office.

Tyrrell served 20 years with the DoJ before joining Weil Gotshal. As chief of the fraud section, Tyrrell led the DoJ’s enforcement efforts involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, corporate, securities, commodities and investment fraud, health care fraud, procurement fraud, stimulus and rescue fraud, mortgage fraud, consumer fraud, and identity theft. Tyrrell also has extensive white-collar trial experience as an assistant U.S. Attorney, as well as expertise in national security matters.
