Last week, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board rejected its first audit firm, announcing it had "disapproved" the application of James C. Marshall PC.

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based firm will no longer be able to audit public company clients.

According to the PCAOB's notice, Marshall failed to respond to deficiencies identified in its audit work, and "demonstrated an unwillingness or inability to comply with reasonable requirements."

In addition, the firm failed to disclose AICPA disciplinary proceedings during the PCAOB's registration process.

According to Compliance Week's list of auditor changes (year to date), Marshall was dismissed by Dstage and American Soil Technologies in March, and resigned as auditor of Quiet Tiger and Silverado Financial.
