CW National Notebook: Convincing companies about compliance during deregulation

At some point, many experienced compliance professionals tend to say they’ve met an executive who approached their role dismissively. “I don’t want to talk about anything that doesn’t bring money in the door,” one attendee remembers a senior executive saying to them.

That’s particularly disheartening to hear at times like these, when regulatory policy around the world is rapidly changing. The European Union is stepping up reporting requirements  and antitrust enforcement. Meanwhile, U.S. agencies say they’re deprioritizing corruption investigations  and consumer protections.
