Investment firm Duncan-Williams has named Jim Cherry as chief compliance officer, effective immediately.

In his new role, Cherry will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating risk assessment across all business units. Additionally, he will oversee the compliance program for the firm's broker-dealer and registered investment advisor, as well as acting as the regulatory liaison with Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Cherry has over 15 years of financial services experience. He joined Duncan-Williams in 2009 as director of fixed income compliance and later served as director of private client group compliance until his promotion.

Prior to joining the company, Cherry worked as a financial advisor in the high net worth group at Fidelity Investments. Earlier in his career, he managed the fixed income trading desk at First Tennessee Brokerage.
