Duff & Phelps, an independent financial advisory and investment banking firm, has announced the addition of managing directors Michael Braverman and Matthew Medlin to its Dispute and Legal Management Consulting segment. Both professionals join Duff & Phelps from Huron Consulting Group.

Braverman joins Duff & Phelps’ New York office as a managing director with more than 20 years of experience providing litigation consulting, auditing, and merger and acquisition advisory services. His work focuses on white-collar defense matters, such as Securities and Exchange Commission and internal investigations, post-acquisition disputes, and alleged accounting and auditor malpractice.

Braverman also serves as a consulting and testifying expert, in addition to providing accounting consultation and restatement assistance to public and private companies. During his career in public accounting, Braverman was an audit partner at two global accounting firms and led domestic and cross-border teams on financial statement audits, public offerings/private placements, and acquisition and divestiture transactions.

Medlin joins Duff & Phelps’ Washington, D.C. Metro office as a managing director with more than 25 years of financial advisory experience, including more than 20 years with global public accounting firms. He advises companies in the application of accounting principles and consults with attorneys in their defense of directors and officers accused of accounting fraud. Medlin also provides expert testimony in cases involving the application of internal controls, auditing standards, or accounting principles.

His experience includes investigations of alleged accounting manipulation, asset theft, and corporate governance issues. While in public accounting, he audited companies in a broad array of industries and helped many companies with initial public offerings, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, venture capital funding, and transaction due diligence.
