The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off in New York City today. Usually film festivals are beyond the scope of the Enforcement Action blog, but this year the festival includes an interesting-looking documentary called "In God We Trust" about the Bernard Madoff scandal.

According to the festival's synopses, In God We Trust tells the Madoff story from the point of view of Eleanor Squillari, Madoff's personal secretary for decades. According to the documentary, Squillari had no idea of what Madoff was really up to until the fraud was exposed at the end of 2008. Following his arrest, however,

Squillari's obsession with the case grew, until she finally began her own investigation, combing through her records and memories for more clues about this enigmatic criminal in a personal crusade for justice. She ultimately exposed previously unknown facts in the case of the greatest financial crime ever committed.

Through Squillari, the film promises to retell the facts of the Madoff scheme "in a new and shocking light."  The trailer for In God We Trust, which will have its first screening on Friday, April 19, is below.
