$61.1 billion Dell has appointed Ross Perot Jr., son of the former third-party presidential candidate, to its board of directors. He joins the board immediately and will stand for election by Dell shareholders at the company's annual meeting next year.

Perot's appointment comes one month after the computer maker bought technology-services provider, Perot Systems, on Nov. 3 for $3.9 billion, the largest acquisition in Dell’s history.

Prior to Dell's acquisition of the company, Perot had served as chairman of the board of Perot Systems since September 2004; a director of Perot Systems since June 1988; and as president and CEO of Perot Systems from September 2000 until September 2004.
