The global average cost of a data breach reached a new all-time high of $4.45 million in 2023, according to IBM’s annual report.
The “Cost of a Data Breach Report 2023,” which analyzed 553 organizations across 16 different countries impacted by data breaches between March 2022 and March 2023, found costs related to data breaches have increased 15 percent since 2020.
Nearly 40 percent of the incidents studied caused loss of data across multiple areas, including physical locations and the cloud, IBM said in a press release Monday.
