Cummins, a power provider, has announced the creation of an Ethics and Compliance Organization with officer-level leadership and accountability, and has appointed deputy general counsel Mark Sifferlen to this role.

Sifferlen will become the company's first vice president, ethics and compliance. He will also assume the duties of corporate secretary, where he will focus on corporate governance and compliance with the Securities and Exchange Commission and New York Stock Exchange.

This organization was created to ensure the company maintains its ethical standards and complies with the Code of Business Conduct.

Sifferlen will be responsible of making sure the company focuses resources where improvement is needed. He currently oversees the online compliance training and high profile compliance areas such as bribery and export controls. He launched the online compliance training program in 2005 and is the primary author of the Cummins Code of Business Conduct.

Since 2008, he has led Cummins' corporate governance work as assistant corporate secretary and supported the board of directors and senior leaders.

Prior to joining Cummins in 2000, he worked at Consolidated Products and the law firm of Baker & Daniels.
