Specialty glass and ceramics company Corning has appointed Lewis Steverson as senior vice president and general counsel, effective in June. He will report to Chairman, President and CEO Wendell Weeks.  

Steverson will assume the role of  general counsel from Vincent Hatton, who will retire in August. Hatton joined Corning in 1981 as assistant corporate counsel and has served as general counsel since February 2006.

Steverson joins Corning after 18 years with Motorola and Motorola Solutions. He served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at Motorola Solutions since January 2011, when Motorola spun off its mobility business and changed its name to Motorola Solutions. Steverson has also served in numerous roles within the company as division counsel, senior counsel, vice president, corporate vice president and senior vice president. Prior to joining Motorola in 1995, he served as a litigation associate for four years at law firm Arnold & Porter.
