Peter Rossiter, a former executive for Citigroup, will join Anglo Irish Bank as chief risk officer, effective Nov. 2.

Rossiter, who has worked with Citigroup for the past 27 years, was most recently chief risk officer of its publicly listed Polish subsidiary, Citi Handlowy. In his new role, he will be responsible for managing Anglo's financial and operational risks and ensuring it complies with regulatory requirements.

In August, Anglo named Mike Aynsley as its new chief executive. Anglo chairman Donal O'Connor said in a statement that the appointment of Rossiter represents another important step in establishing a management team that will lead the bank in meeting the "considerable challenges" it faces.
