Dan Meader, an investment industry veteran, has been elected chair of the Board of Governors CFA Institute, the global association for investment professionals that administers the CFA and CIPM curriculum and examination programs worldwide and advocates for high standards of practice within the global investment industry. Meader began his one-year term on Sept. 1.

He succeeds Margaret Franklin, president of Kinsale Wealth Management in Toronto, Canada. Franklin will continue to serve on the Board as immediate past chair.

Meader is the founder and managing partner of Trinity Private Equity Group, an investment advisory and private equity investment group, He heads an 18-member Board of Governors composed of investment professionals from nine countries: Canada, China, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

In addition to Meader's appointment, Alan Meder has been elected as vice-chair of the Board of Governors. Meder is a senior vice president of Chicago-based Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co. He is the chief risk officer and the principal financial officer of three investment companies.

Four governors have been elected to serve a second three-year term that also commenced on Sept. 1. They are:

Saeed Al-Hajeri, head of the Emerging Markets Department at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority; Alan Meder (also vice chair), senior vice president of Duff & Phelps Investment Management; Jane Shao, founder and director of Lumière Pavilions; and Roger Urwin, global head of investment content at Towers Watson.
