Independent oil and gas company Black Elk Energy Offshore Operations has appointed Marizza Piché as their first general counsel.

“Marizza brings a distinct blend of legal understanding and technical skills to the company and through her guidance, we expect to identify opportunities to improve the way we manage legal services and realize certain risk management benefits,” said Black Elk Energy President and Chief Executive Officer John Hoffman.

Piché joins Black Elk Energy with over twenty years of legal experience in the oil and gas industry, most recently serving as general counsel at offshore services company Boa Marine Services.

Her experience includes working with outside counsel on virtually every aspect of the industry as it relates to the acquisition, exploration, development, production, marketing, divesture and financing of crude oil and natural gas. She is also experienced in the formation, operation, liquidation and restructuring of oil and gas companies.
