AOL has appointed Julie Jacobs as executive vice president and general counsel. She succeeds Ira Parker, who is transitioning to an advisory role at AOL after serving as general counsel since 2006.

Jacobs, who will report to Chairman and CEO Tim Armstrong, will assume responsibility for all legal, regulatory, compliance and public policy matters for AOL and serve as corporate secretary to AOL's board of directors and as key liaison with stockholders and advocacy groups.

Jacobs joined AOL in 2000 and most recently served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel, charged with managing all the corporate and transactional legal work for the company including securities law compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and commercial transactions. Prior to AOL, Jacobs was with Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, where she represented foreign and domestic clients in connection with major financings, transactions, securities offerings and restructurings.
