Aluminum producer Alcoa has appointed Susan Ringler as vice president and chief ethics and compliance officer, effective June 1. Ringler succeeds Judith Nocito, director of global compliance and assistant general counsel, who will retire on Aug. 1 after 34 years at Alcoa.

Ringler currently serves as deputy general counsel at water technology company Xylem, where she provides strategy and regulatory advice, as well as oversight and supervision of policies and programs involving compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulations. Ringler joined ITT in 2006, where she created and implemented its first global anti-corruption program.

Previously, Ringler served as general counsel under Chairman Paul Volcker of the independent inquiry committee investigating the United Nations Oil for Food Program, a large international corruption investigation spanning six continents. Earlier in her career, she served as an assistant U. S. attorney in the white collar fraud group of the U. S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland from 1985-1998. She also served as a trial attorney at law firm Semmes, Bowen & Semmes.
