Bailed-out insurance giant American International Group has appointed New York Federal Reserve Bank's former vice president of risk management, Brian Peters, as its senior managing director of enterprise risk management. He replaces Charlie Shamieh, who was promoted last month to become AIG's corporate chief actuary.

Peters, who has served at the Federal Reserve Bank for the last 20 years, will supervise risk management and regulatory issues within AIG. He will report to Chief Risk Officer, Sid Sankaran.

AIG was rescued by the Federal Reserve Bank in 2008, when it faced bankruptcy, repaying the last of its debt last month.
