Aegon, a U.K.-based life insurance, pensions and asset management company, has appointed Jim Ewing as chief risk officer, subject to final regulatory approval.

Ewing, currently chief actuary, will succeed Charles Garthwaite, who will be stepping down from the post at the end of this year.

Prior to joining Aegon in August 2011, Ewing was Solvency II director within the insurance division at Lloyds Banking Group.
