$23.1 billion consulting firm, Accenture, has hired Julie Spellman Sweet as general counsel, secretary, and chief compliance officer, effective March 22. She will report to Chairman and CEO William Green.

Sweet will succeed Douglas Scrivner, who will step down as general counsel after serving in that role for 14 years. Scrivner will remain with Accenture to work with Green and to help ensure a smooth transition for Sweet.

Sweet comes to Accenture from the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where she has been a partner in the firm’s corporate department for the past 10 years. A well-regarded and dedicated attorney with significant international experience, Sweet joined Cravath in 1992 and became a partner in 2000. She has worked closely with dozens of public companies on a broad variety of matters at the board, CEO, and general counsel levels on a global basis.
