A. Schulman, an international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds and resins, has promoted Malia Gelfo, former manager of financial reporting, to assistant corporate controller.

In her new role, Gelfo will be responsible for the corporate accounting and financial reporting departments, as well as the integration of acquisitions into the financial consolidation and external reporting process. Prior to joining A. Schulman in 2004, she was a senior auditor with Ernst & Young.

Assuming her former role as manager of financial reporting is R. J. Schoger. His responsibilities include addressing new accounting pronouncements, preparing the worldwide consolidation and related financial statements, preparing quarterly and annual reporting documents, and maintaining the Hyperion financial consolidation system.

Schoger has 10 years of financial and technical accounting experience including, most recently, five years as a senior auditor for Ernst & Young. He has extensive knowledge and experience with public company filing regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, mergers and acquisitions, international coordination, and the development and implementation of financial systems.
